A 3 year position is available at
the Laboratory of Genomics and Molecular Biomedicine headed by
Professor Karsten Kristiansen at the Department of Biology, University
of Copenhagen.
The PhD-student will be involved in the project
"Single cell RNA sequencing to decipher the role of dietary and
endogenous factors in adipose tissue inflammation (SINCER)" which will
focus on analyzing molecular and cellular factors involved in
initiation and maintenance of inflammation in obesity in mice and
humans by using state-of-the-art techniques.
The
project is collaboration between the Technical University of Denmark
(DTU) and the State University of São Paulo in Brazil and the
successful applicant is expected to work in all three places as
appropriate in relation to the project.
Chronic diseases
associated with obesity, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus and
cardiovascular diseases, are among the major causes of death and
illness worldwide. During the last decade, it became clear that
obesity-induced inflammation in adipose tissue contributes to the
development of these diseases. The primary goal of the project is to
identify possible targets for therapeutic intervention in adipose
tissue inflammation-induced metabolic disorders.
